Walking & Cycling
 Walking
Walking is one of the easiest and definitely the cleanest form of transport available. Most people can cover about 2km in under half an hour. However only 41 per cent of journeys under 2km are made by walking or cycling.
 Cycling
Cycling is easily the most energy efficient form of transport. It’s also an easy and fun way to add exercise into your daily routine. And once you start – you’ll be feeling fitter and looking better in no time. Here are resources to help you find your way around Auckland:
  | | Regional Cycle Maps- maps covering the North Shore, Central, Eastern, Western and Southern Auckland areas. The maps show points of interest including: cycle lockers, cycle shops, public toilets, gradients, one way streets and other landmarks.
|
  | | Google Cycle Maps- Google cycle maps are a great way to plan your cycle route on-line using the latest information. You can locate useful facilities such as cycle shops and link your journey to public transport services. Google cycle maps are updated using feedback from Auckland cyclists, local councils and the Ministry of Transport.
Also displayed are validated inputs from cyclists themselves - giving general advice and warnings to other cyclists planning a route.
