The work of Walking School Bus volunteers is extremely valuable, and the success of the programme, in terms of getting more children out walking with friends and enjoying the benefits of healthy exercise, would not be possible without their time and efforts.

The WSB is a very successful programme with over 235 routes in the Auckland region, helping more than 4200 children to walk to school safely. The programme takes 1944 cars off Auckland’s busy roads in the morning peak.

To recognise the hard work that our committed volunteers undertake, we run a rewards programme that had previously included a free family movie pass that was provided to us by our partners SKYCITY cinemas. Unfortunately, due to a change in policy affected by the current economic situation, SKYCITY cinemas are no longer able to offer the free movie passes that we previously received.

We are understandably disappointed by this however we understand the position of our partners, who have supported the programme for over 4 years. As an alternative, we are instead pleased to offer a discounted family cinema voucher for each WSB volunteer that SYCITY Cinemas have kindly provided us with, and we hope that these will be accepted with our best wishes.

We sincerely thank volunteers and appreciate their valuable contribution, and we apologise for this change to our rewards programme.
