Energy Award for WSB
It’s official - Walking School Buses are the most energy efficient form of transport. Auckland’s programme has won the transport category of the national Energy Efficiency Awards.
"Even more energy would be saved as children were developing the habit of walking."
The judges were impressed with what the programme is achieving now, but also said that in the long term, even more energy would be saved as children were developing the habit of walking from an early age.
None of these gains would be possible without the daily commitment put in by WSB volunteers.
Another Auckland TravelWise project, Kristin School’s “Get on the Bus” promotion, won the Highly Commended award in the Transport category.
